My room, taken in July 2012
I’m 21 years old living in Essex, England (that’s the east of england for international folks) and not much more than an hour’s train ride from London itself.
What do I do? I’m a digital designer, designing and creating all those digital things from websites, images, motion graphics and video, photography and photo-manipulation, and a dab of filmmaking. Add on top of that a very healthy dose of anime watching and japanese culture for good measure.
The lovely girls in the photo (excluding my also lovely girlfriend, Siqi Yan
) are my 7 Dollfie Dreams, a 60cm vinyl doll with an inner skeleton that separates it more from the realm of traditional BJDs (Ball Jointed Dolls) into perhaps the ‘large action doll figure’ category. Keeping the phrase ‘doll’ is important as, after all, that is their main attraction – clothes, accessories, poses, fun and photos.
It’s also a term you wouldn’t necessarily affiliate with a 20-something male
But that’s what I love about them. Their like nothing else, and I’ve always had an affinity with small(ish) collectables, customisation and more recently photography too – so they are a natural fit with what I want out of a hobby. Plus the community around them is fairly large and full of some great people who make the experience even better.
The dollfie girls I have are, in order of acquisition:
• Nanoha – Magical Lyrical Girl Nanoha Strikers
• Moe – Volks’ own character ‘After School Akihabara Girls’
• Yui – K-ON!
• Sakura – Fate/ Stay Night
• Yuki – White Album
• Lily – Fate/ Stay Night
• Akira – Volks’ own character ‘After School Akihabara Girls’
I also have a fair number of lesser movable figures – approximately four IKEA Detolf’s worth of them, ranging from the most coolsome and large scale to the smallest and cutest girls possible. I buy them based on their looks, not just if they’re from an anime series I watch, though both is always good. Along with the static figures I currently have two Nendoroids and two figmas that are small enough and cute enough to sit on my desk behind my keyboard ^^
Feel free to browse my Flickr for more photos, and make sure to follow me on Twitter!

Love your Nanoha Dollfie. *Cries in one corner*
Awh, well she’s very flattered!
all your daughters are so cute! i too, in the past looked weirdly at DDs, now, im trying to get one! xD
Thanks ^^
Good luck to you! Do you have an idea of who yet?
Awesome blog. Very impressed with the quality of your photography. Keep up the good work. Perhaps I can learn a thing or two from you! ^^
Thanks ^^ Glad you like it, though it’s only really been a year now since I started ^^;
Still lots to learn myself, but always happy to share anything I find along the way ^^
I should probably update this sometime soon too o.O
I love your display setup. I, in fact, have just purchased 6 of the Detolf glass cabinets when I came across a picture of yours on a toy forum thread. I, however cannot find the sort of storage bases you are using. Might I ask where you found them and what they are actually?
Thanks! ^^ I’m actually looking at getting two more myself. However, the units underneath are EFFEKTIV by Ikea, and sadly enough they’ve stopped making the entire range
I’m on the look-out for a suitable replacement, but not found anything of the same size and shape yet…
What forum thread was it?
Yes, I’m running into the same problem unfortunately. It would be great if when you find something comparable if you could post it? lol
oh and here is the thread address:

Well looking at IKEA this could probably have 1 DETOLF on it:

This could probably fit four (without the wheels):

That’s about all I can find really :/
